SAP crossed €10 billion in quarterly revenue for the first time as accelerating cloud adoption and demand for artificial-intelligence products strengthened the German software company’s third-quarter results.
Total revenue increased 13% to approximately €10.27 billion.
Cloud revenue climbed 26% to €6.67 billion, while current cloud backlog — contracted cloud revenue expected to be recognized during the coming 12 months — reached €24.1 billion, an increase of 28%, or 26% at constant currencies.
Cloud ERP Suite revenue increased 29%.
Operating profitability also strengthened. Non-IFRS operating profit increased 18% to €3.03 billion, another quarterly milestone for the company.
SAP consequently moved its 2026 cloud-revenue and cloud-and-software-revenue expectations toward the upper end of their previous ranges.
The results matter beyond SAP because enterprise software represents an important test of whether artificial-intelligence investment is moving from infrastructure spending into commercial business applications.
The first phase of the AI boom was dominated by semiconductor purchases, data-center construction and enormous capital expenditures by hyperscalers.
SAP’s numbers provide evidence that corporations are also increasing spending on software platforms incorporating AI into finance, supply chains, human resources and other core operations.
The company’s growing backlog is particularly important. Revenue already under contract provides greater visibility into future growth and suggests the cloud transition still has momentum despite higher borrowing costs and uncertainty across the European economy.
SAP nevertheless faces a more difficult comparison as its cloud business becomes larger. Maintaining growth above 20% becomes progressively harder as the revenue base expands.
Investors will therefore focus on fourth-quarter bookings, the conversion of the €24.1 billion backlog into recognized revenue and whether AI adoption continues accelerating cloud migrations.
Crossing €10 billion in quarterly revenue is primarily a milestone. The more consequential number is the expanding contracted cloud business behind it.
