Gulf Markets End Mixed After Trump Rejects Iranian Peace Blueprint

Gulf stock markets ended mixed Sunday as investors assessed renewed uncertainty surrounding U.S.-Iran diplomacy and prospects for restoring normal traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

The moves followed U.S. President Donald Trump’s rejection of an Iranian peace blueprint intended to help end hostilities and reopen the strategically important waterway, Reuters reported.

Saudi Arabia’s market advanced while performance elsewhere in the Gulf was mixed.

The diplomatic uncertainty matters well beyond regional equities because Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important energy transit routes.

Tehran maintained that diplomacy remained the viable path toward resolving the conflict with the United States and Israel, while Iranian military leaders said their forces were prepared for renewed U.S. strikes.

The combination leaves investors balancing two competing scenarios.

A negotiated reopening of Hormuz could ease pressure on energy transportation and reduce part of the geopolitical risk premium embedded in oil markets. Renewed military escalation, particularly involving energy or shipping infrastructure, could push risk in the opposite direction.

Sunday’s Gulf trading offers an early regional indication of investor sentiment before major U.S. and European markets reopen.

The next signals will come from diplomatic developments, shipping activity through Hormuz, oil pricing when global energy markets reopen and any further military action.
