GE HealthCare Technologies is in talks over a possible acquisition of radiopharmaceutical developer Sofie Biosciences valued at about $1 billion, Reuters reported on Sunday, citing the Financial Times and people familiar with the matter.
A deal could be announced as soon as next week, according to the FT report as relayed by Reuters. Reuters said it could not immediately verify the information. GE HealthCare and Sofie could not be immediately reached for comment outside regular business hours.
The potential purchase would be GE HealthCare’s second major acquisition since the 2024 three-way split of General Electric, Reuters said. Sofie, based in Dulles, Virginia, develops radioisotopes for PET scans aimed at certain gastro-oesophageal and pancreatic cancers, per the FT account. The report framed the talks as a way to bolster GE HealthCare’s pharmaceutical diagnostics business.
Talks are not a closed deal. No company confirmation was available Sunday.
