Brent crude futures breached $100 a barrel on Wednesday for the first time since July 24. Reuters cited a delayed print near $101.32, up about $3.40, after a session high of $101.55 as of mid-morning Eastern time. CNBC showed Brent near $101.25 and WTI near $96.38 on a similar timestamp. Those figures are live or delayed last prices during the U.S. session, not the official settle.
Tuesday’s Brent settle was $97.92 after a session high of $99.46, and WTI settled at $93.03. Wednesday is an update: futures traded through $100, while Tuesday’s settle below $100 remains accurate for that session only. Today’s live tape is not a settle.
The driver here is the U.S.-Iran shipping confrontation, including Iran’s claimed attacks near Hormuz and U.S. strikes on Iranian tankers, not a Houthi or Saudi facility lede. Dated Brent has traded above $100 since Sep. 3 per LSEG.
