Airbnb is expanding access to OpenAI’s frontier artificial-intelligence models, including GPT-6 Astra, across its engineering and product-development organizations as the company increases its use of AI in software development and marketplace operations.
Under the agreement, Airbnb teams will receive broader access to OpenAI models through OpenAI’s APIs and Amazon Bedrock on AWS, Airbnb’s preferred cloud provider. The expansion builds on Airbnb’s existing use of Codex and other OpenAI models.
Airbnb says its engineers already use an internal AI tooling platform for software development and remote AI agents. The company is applying OpenAI technology beyond coding as well, including search, fraud prevention, customer support and insurance claims.
Airbnb CTO Ahmad Al-Dahle said the company’s development teams are shipping roughly 80% more features than a year ago, with OpenAI’s frontier models forming part of the developer tooling supporting that increase.
The agreement illustrates a broader shift in enterprise AI adoption. Large companies are increasingly integrating multiple frontier models directly into internal development environments rather than limiting generative AI to standalone employee tools.
For investors, the development provides another example of how spending on frontier AI models is moving from experimentation toward integration into core corporate workflows.
