Linde raised its full-year earnings outlook after stronger semiconductor demand helped the industrial-gases company deliver another quarter of earnings growth.
The company reported its third-quarter results Thursday as demand from electronics customers continued benefiting from investment in semiconductor manufacturing.
Advanced semiconductor factories require large quantities of ultra-high-purity and specialty gases throughout the manufacturing process, giving industrial-gas suppliers exposure to the expansion of AI and high-performance-computing infrastructure.
Linde has positioned itself for that growth through major investments supporting new semiconductor manufacturing capacity.
The company’s exposure extends beyond electronics. Linde supplies gases and engineering technologies across chemicals, energy, healthcare, manufacturing, metals and mining, providing diversification as individual industrial markets move through different economic cycles.
AI-related semiconductor investment nevertheless represents an increasingly important source of incremental demand.
As chipmakers build additional fabrication capacity, spending is moving deeper into the industrial supply chain, benefiting companies providing gases, electricity, construction and specialized infrastructure required to operate advanced manufacturing plants.
Investors will watch whether semiconductor demand continues strengthening and whether additional chip-factory projects translate into long-term supply agreements for Linde.
