Flex Secures $2 Billion Axiom Investment at $37.5 Billion Valuation Ahead of Planned 2027 Spinoff

Flex has secured a $2 billion investment in its Axiom cloud and power infrastructure business, giving the unit an initial enterprise valuation of $37.5 billion as the electronics manufacturer prepares to separate the fast-growing operation into an independent publicly traded company.

The investment will come from funds affiliated with General Catalyst, Koch Equity Development and other co-investors through convertible preferred shares in Axiom Solutions International.

Flex plans to separate Axiom during the first quarter of 2027. The transaction provides outside investors with an early stake in a business positioned directly inside the expanding artificial-intelligence infrastructure market.

Axiom houses Flex’s cloud and power infrastructure operations, businesses that have become increasingly important as technology companies expand data-center capacity to support artificial-intelligence workloads.

The AI investment cycle has created enormous demand not only for advanced processors but also for the electrical, power-management, manufacturing and computing infrastructure surrounding those processors.

That has increased the strategic value of companies supplying the physical systems required to operate increasingly large data centers.

The $37.5 billion initial enterprise valuation assigned to Axiom demonstrates how aggressively investors are valuing businesses exposed to that infrastructure expansion.

The transaction also gives Flex additional capital while establishing an independent market valuation for Axiom ahead of the planned separation.

For General Catalyst, Koch Equity Development and the other investors, the investment represents a significant wager that spending on AI infrastructure will remain elevated even as investors increasingly question whether technology companies can generate sufficient returns on the enormous amount of capital being deployed.

That distinction is important.

Axiom does not need to determine which individual AI model ultimately dominates the market. Its opportunity comes from supplying infrastructure into the broader expansion of computing capacity.

Flex, meanwhile, will be separating a rapidly growing infrastructure operation from its broader manufacturing business, potentially allowing investors to value the two businesses independently.

The planned 2027 spinoff will therefore become the next major milestone.

Investors will be watching Axiom’s revenue growth, profitability and exposure to major cloud and data-center customers as the separation approaches.

The $2 billion investment provides the clearest outside valuation yet: sophisticated investors are currently assigning $37.5 billion of enterprise value to Flex’s cloud and power infrastructure operation before it even reaches the public market.
