West Texas Intermediate slipped under $100 a barrel Friday morning as crude extended its fade from Thursday’s official settles. A CNBC quote stamp near 8:00 a.m. Central Time put WTI last at about $99.47, down roughly 2.9% versus Thursday’s settle of $102.48. ICE Brent last near $104.63, down about 2.8% versus a $107.63 settle.
Those marks are live lasts, not exchange settles, and should not be mixed with Thursday’s official closes or with separate cash energy prints. Session ranges on CNBC showed WTI as high as $104.46 and as low as $98.75, with Brent between $109.97 and $103.50; highs are not lasts.
The under-$100 WTI print updates the settle-only story from Thursday and tracks the mid-session path into the August CPI morning. An earlier stamp near 7:35 a.m. Central had WTI closer to $99.17 and Brent near $104.28, still under the $100 WTI line.
