UPDATE: Brent crude printed $105.26 a barrel and West Texas Intermediate $100.04 at 1215 GMT on Thursday, up $4.05 (+4%) and $3.99 (+4.15%), according to a Reuters oil wrap on Euronext. Those levels mark a threshold breach versus earlier Asia holds above $100 and Wednesday settles. AP said Brent at one point topped $105 and U.S. crude briefly topped $100; session high is not the last, and the intraday last is not the settle.
A later Yahoo Finance futures re-stamp around 11:05 CT showed Brent last about $106.8 to $106.9 (session high about $107.1) and WTI last about $101.58 (high about $101.7), labeled as futures tape, not exchange settlement. CNN earlier showed WTI near $99 after a $100 print; that path is time-stamped and superseded by later lasts.
Catalysts include the Mocha Red Sea seizure and separate Hormuz tanker pressure; the theaters are not merged into one closed-strait claim. OPEC cut 2026 demand-growth to 380,000 barrels a day, a secondary demand backdrop.
