Meta Platforms has acquired Stockholm-founded AI startup Stilla.ai to speed work on Meta Business Agent, the chatbot that helps businesses handle transactions on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram, Axios reported Wednesday. Stilla’s own blog said the company is joining Meta to strengthen Meta’s AI products for business and that its service continues. Axios said the team and technology will move to Meta pending close. Deal terms were not disclosed.
As of Wednesday afternoon Central time, Meta had not issued its own newsroom statement on the deal; attribute the scoop to Axios and the confirmation to Stilla’s blog. Stilla emerged from stealth in January after a $5 million pre-seed round, a prior raise that is not an acquisition price. Axios said Meta has claimed more than 1 million businesses already use Business Agent and that Meta plans to expand its Sweden footprint after the deal.
