West Texas Intermediate crude settled at $100.05 a barrel Friday, down $2.43, and ICE Brent settled at $104.61, down $3.02, locking an official pullback that still left both contracts with strong weekly gains. Newsquawk and EnergyNow matched those settle stamps versus Thursday settles of $102.48 for WTI and $107.63 for Brent. CNBC oil coverage put the Friday settle moves near down 2.4% for WTI and down 2.8% for Brent.
Board lasts after the settle were not the official prints: WTI last traded near $99.99 and Brent last drifted below the $104.61 settle. Session highs were far above settles, with WTI as high as $104.46 and Brent as high as $109.97. EnergyNow put the week at plus $8.57, or 9.37%, for WTI from last Friday’s $91.48 settle, and plus $8.33, or 8.65%, for Brent from $96.28. CNBC rounded weekly gains near 9.4% and 8.7% and said Friday snapped an eight-day WTI win streak and a five-day Brent streak. Friday’s settle remains above $100 after the fade from Thursday.
