U.S. equity index futures recovered overnight as oil futures cooled, with traders positioning into Friday’s August consumer price index release due at 7:30 a.m. Central Time. A Reuters stamp at 5:31 a.m. Eastern Time put Dow E-minis up 276 points, or 0.53%, S&P 500 E-minis up 40.75 points, or 0.54%, and Nasdaq 100 E-minis up 166.75 points, or 0.57%.
The same Reuters wrap said Brent futures had slipped more than 3% and remained above $104 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate was down about 2.6% near $100. Those marks are live lasts, not exchange settles. The U.S. 10-year yield was near 4.9424%, still elevated after Thursday’s cash close near 4.96%.
BLS had not yet released August CPI at this writing. Coverage here is overnight futures and oil only as a pre-release setup. Tape can drift into the 7:30 a.m. Central window and should be re-stamped before any later update.
