Iran intends to announce a new restricted zone in the Gulf in coming days, senior security official and SNSC secretary Mohsen Rezaei said on state television in remarks carried by Reuters-family wires dated Sep. 7. He said the zone would begin where a U.S. naval blockade of Iran starts and extend into parts of the Gulf. Any vessel entering the area would be placed on an Iranian sanctions list, those reports said. No published coordinates or charted polygon appeared in the wires, and no verified Wednesday coordinate release was found as of the research cutoff.
Rezaei also said maps for a new international corridor in Iranian and Omani waters, under Iran’s management, “have been agreed and should be signed in the coming days.” He tied Hormuz openness to a halt in U.S. sabotage, threats, and attacks on Iran. This is announced intent and talks, not a gazetted exclusion zone with fixed bounds. Distinct from tanker kinetic and insurance-premium packages.
