Accenture Explores Sale of China Operations for Up to $1.5 Billion

Accenture is exploring a sale of its Greater China operations that could value the business at as much as $1.5 billion, according to the Financial Times.

The company has reportedly hired JPMorgan to explore options after receiving unsolicited interest and could retain a minority stake to preserve client continuity.

No transaction has been agreed, and Reuters said it could not independently verify the report.

That distinction is important: this is a reported strategic review, not a completed divestiture.

A sale would represent a significant restructuring of Accenture’s China exposure at a time when Western professional-services and technology companies are navigating tighter security rules, geopolitical friction and rapidly changing demand for artificial-intelligence services.

Accenture generated $74.2 billion in revenue during its latest fiscal year, while management has increasingly positioned AI services as a major source of future growth.

The reported China review therefore carries significance beyond the potential $1.5 billion valuation.

It would indicate how one of the world’s largest consulting groups is allocating capital and management attention between mature geographic operations and faster-growing AI-related opportunities.

Markets should watch whether Accenture formally launches a sale process, which buyers emerge and whether the company ultimately retains an ownership interest.
