Investors poured another $28.16 billion into global equity funds during the week ended October 21, extending inflows to five consecutive weeks despite renewed volatility across technology stocks.
The total increased from $19.88 billion during the previous week, according to LSEG Lipper data.
Asia attracted $11.53 billion, its largest weekly equity-fund inflow since at least December 2022. European funds received $9.14 billion, while U.S. equity funds attracted another $5.07 billion.
Technology funds also reversed the previous week’s selling.
Investors added $5.05 billion to technology funds after withdrawing $4.77 billion the week before.
The flows demonstrate that investors continued adding equity exposure even as concerns surrounding the enormous cost of artificial-intelligence investment pressured major technology shares.
Bond markets continued attracting capital as well.
Global bond funds received $9.44 billion, their fifth consecutive weekly inflow. Swiss-franc bond funds attracted $6.8 billion, while short-term bond funds received $2.78 billion.
Investors simultaneously withdrew $1.68 billion from high-yield bond funds.
Emerging-market equities recorded another notable move, attracting $6.28 billion, their strongest weekly net buying since August 5.
The numbers capture an unusual market environment.
Investors are still allocating substantial capital to equities, particularly Asia and technology, while simultaneously increasing exposure to safer fixed-income assets.
That suggests positioning has not yet shifted into a broad retreat from risk.
The next fund-flow report will show whether the latest technology-market volatility changes that calculation.
