SAP has agreed to acquire Belgian workforce-data company TechWolf, expanding the German software giant’s human-resources technology as artificial intelligence changes how companies organize jobs and employee skills.
TechWolf develops software that analyzes workforce data to identify the skills employees possess, the tasks they perform and capabilities companies may be missing.
That information is becoming increasingly important as businesses deploy artificial intelligence across operations.
Companies attempting to automate tasks or redesign jobs need more detailed information about their workforces than traditional human-resources databases typically provide.
SAP plans to integrate TechWolf’s technology with its existing human-capital-management software, potentially giving corporate customers a more granular view of how employee skills align with changing business requirements.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
The transaction reflects a broader shift in enterprise AI spending. Businesses are moving beyond experiments with generative AI and increasingly examining how automation changes staffing requirements, job responsibilities and training needs.
That creates an opportunity for software capable of mapping those changes across large organizations.
For SAP, adding TechWolf strengthens an HR software business already embedded inside many large corporations and gives the company another way to incorporate AI-driven workforce intelligence into its enterprise platform.
The next question is how quickly SAP can integrate TechWolf’s technology and whether customers increasingly use workforce analytics to make hiring, training and restructuring decisions as AI adoption accelerates.
