China’s National Bureau of Statistics said Wednesday that August producer prices rose 3.8% from a year earlier and 0.4% from July, reversing a 0.7% month-on-month decline. Consumer prices rose 0.8% year on year, accelerating from 0.5% in July, Xinhua reported from the NBS release. Month on month, CPI rose 0.4%, reversing three consecutive months of declines. Core CPI excluding food and energy edged to about 1.0% year on year from 0.9%, secondary color only.

NBS statistician Dong Lijuan tied the PPI rebound to imported crude oil and nonferrous metals plus industrial upgrading demand. Seasonal power and coal strength and weather weighing on construction also featured. On CPI, Dong cited energy, seasonal food, summer travel, and devices linked to computing-power demand. Prefer NBS and Xinhua prints only; this package does not invent a consensus or claim a beat. Distinct from China export-surplus coverage.
