Coalition says 73 civilians injured across four southern cities as temporary facility shut-ins lift crude to multi-week highs.

Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis struck southern Saudi Arabia early Tuesday, Sep. 8, claiming responsibility for dozens of missiles and drones. The Saudi-led coalition and Foreign Ministry said attacks hit Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan (also spelled Jizan), and Najran, wounding 73 civilians, including women and children.

Saudi Arabia’s Energy Ministry said southern energy facilities were targeted, with fires and a temporary halt in some operations while teams contained blazes and assessed damage. It did not name individual plants. Houthis claimed Aramco sites and an air base; CNN cited satellite imagery of smoke at an Aramco distribution centre in Abha. Lost output in barrels was not confirmed.

Brent settled at $97.92 and WTI at $93.03 after intraday highs near $99.46 and $94.73. Near-$100 Brent remains a watch, not a settle. The episode adds Red Sea and Yanbu-route risk beside impaired Hormuz, where Kpler counted seven commodity vessels Monday versus eight the prior day.
