Oman is aiming to convene Gulf Cooperation Council foreign ministers with Iran’s foreign minister on Monday, Sep. 14, in Salalah to discuss a temporary arrangement for commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Bloomberg and Financial Times accounts. Bloomberg described Gulf states as weighing or considering the rare meeting, while FT-sourced reports said the session was expected to proceed even though details were not finalized.

The talks would be the first such GCC-Iran top-diplomat gathering since U.S. and Israeli action against Iran in February, wires said. Tehran and Muscat had said about two weeks earlier they were finalizing a temporary corridor concept. Diplomats caution that a full reopen of the strait would still require a U.S.-Iran deal.

Wires cited a number of states as confirmed but did not list a full attendee roster. Reporting treats this as a temporary shipping track, not a claim that the strait has reopened.

Sources: Bloomberg (weighing / Oman aiming Mon Salalah); FT via Oman Observer and Caliber (expected / unfinalized / US-Iran full-reopen caution).
