Brent crude futures were up $0.40, or 0.4%, at $101.61 by 0814 GMT Thursday, and WTI was up $0.49, or 0.51%, to $96.54, Reuters said. That 0814 GMT stamp is about 3:14 a.m. Central and ages quickly; it is a delayed last, not a Thursday settle. Wednesday’s official Brent settle was $101.21 after a session high of $101.58. High is not last, and last is not settle. This is not a reprint of the Wednesday Wall Street close package or the first $100 breach story.

Reuters said the largest U.S.-Iran shipping attacks of the six-month war left Hormuz recovery hopes fading, with flows still far below pre-war levels. Wednesday commodity transits near 7 compared with a roughly 14-ship 10-day average. Analyst color from ING, via Reuters reprints, said China stepped up crude purchases in recent weeks; ICIS said soft China demand had been a buffer, not a structural floor. Keep that as analyst color, not official data. A later CNBC morning last near $102.10 still is not a settle.
