Gold gained about 1.5 percent to around $4,417 an ounce in a Wednesday Reuters global-markets print, with some same-day snapshots near $4,418. That figure is a mid-session wire last, not an official settle. Soft-dollar conditions and yen strength toward roughly seven-month highs framed the move in the same Reuters package, with the dollar index soft near about 98.75 in the midday wire. FXEmpire earlier Wednesday showed spot near $4,418.65, up about 1.45 percent at that timestamp.
Live markets moved after the Reuters print. Near 3:20 p.m. Central time, COMEX gold futures last traded around $4,442, while an independent spot snapshot near $4,397 showed post-print drift. The Reuters ~$4,418 level is not a settle, and ETF flows or a session high beyond sourced prints were not available. Soft USD and the path into U.S. PPI and CPI remain the backdrop. Figures are labeled last versus settle.
