The Japanese yen traded near seven-month highs against the dollar on Wednesday as the greenback stayed soft. Reuters said the dollar hovered near a seven-month low versus the yen after Tuesday’s print around 152.89. A New York Reuters wire showed the dollar down 0.4 percent at 153.40 yen. A live Yahoo Finance refresh near 3:20 p.m. Central time put USD/JPY last around 153.65, with a day low near 152.93. The yen was about 4 percent stronger so far this month, Reuters said.
The dollar index was soft near about 98.8 in Reuters wires, with a live DX-Y.NYB last near 98.83 around the same window. Traders widely expect a 25 basis-point Bank of Japan hike at the Sep. 17-18 meeting, cited here only as FX backdrop, not a rate-path preview.
