Tesla Delivers 486,532 Vehicles as European Recovery Puts Annual Sales Growth Back Within Reach

Tesla delivered 486,532 vehicles during the third quarter, beating Wall Street expectations and putting its core automotive business on course to potentially return to annual growth after two consecutive years of declining sales.

The July-through-September total exceeded the Visible Alpha consensus estimate of 456,896 vehicles by 29,636 units.

Tesla produced 464,391 vehicles during the quarter.

The result changes the arithmetic for 2026.

Tesla now needs at least 311,448 fourth-quarter deliveries to equal last year’s annual total. The company has delivered more vehicles than that in every quarter since mid-2022.

Analysts have consequently raised full-year expectations.

Consensus forecasts now call for approximately 1.82 million deliveries in 2026, compared with about 1.65 million expected in June.

Europe has become an important part of the recovery.

Tesla registrations in the European Union increased substantially during the first eight months of the year compared with the same period in 2025. September registrations also strengthened in several markets.

Tesla shares rose more than 5% in early Friday trading following the delivery report.

The numbers matter because vehicle sales remain Tesla’s largest source of revenue even as investors increasingly value the company around longer-term businesses including autonomous driving, robotaxis, artificial intelligence and humanoid robotics.

The automotive operation nevertheless remains critical because it generates the scale and cash flow needed to finance those projects.

Tesla also reported 13.7 gigawatt-hours of energy-storage deployments during the quarter, adding another measure of growth outside its vehicle business.

The next major test comes with Tesla’s quarterly financial results.

Investors will be watching automotive margins, pricing, cash generation and management’s outlook to determine whether stronger deliveries are translating into improved profitability rather than simply higher unit volume.
